Rosa Maria Barrantes
Pianist Rosa Maria Barrantes began her musical studies in her hometown of Lima, Peru. Later, she studied at the Catholic University of Santiago de Chile, with the pianist Maria Iris Radrigán, and completed her degree with merit. She entered the prestigious Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, in the class of Professor Natalia Troull, going on to obtain a doctorate from the same institution with the highest classifications. It was from that time, in Moscow, that her pianistic duo with Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro dates back, who have been performing for the last two decades in Portugal, the United States, Latin America and several European countries. The duo recorded an album with works by Debussy, Fauré, Ravel, Satie and Poulenc, with excellent reviews from the specialized press. In the field of chamber music, Rosa Maria Barrantes was a member of the Trio Americano and frequently collaborates with the DSCH – Shostakovich Ensemble. She has played with great musicians from the international scene, such as Anna Samuil, Corey Cerovsek, Adrian Brendel, Pascal Moraguès, Marcelo Nisinman, Héctor del Curto, Chen Halevi, Jack Liebeck and Gary Hoffman, among many others. Rosa Maria Barrantes was Professor of Piano and Chamber Music in the Degree in Music at the Piaget Institute and is currently professor of Piano at the Conservatório Metropolitano de Lisboa and pedagogical coordinator of the Festival and Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO, which takes place annually in Lisbon and is constituted today as one of the most important festivals and musical academies in the world.
