Matthias Samuil

Matthias Samuil was born in Berlin and began his musical education at the age of six. He graduated as a pianist from the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, where he studied with Annerose Schmidt and Hella Walter-Arndt and took part in several international masterclasses with Murray Perahia, Leon Fleisher, Brigitte Engerer and Graham Johnson. Matthias has performed in concerts as a pianist accompanying some of today's most outstanding opera singers, such as Olga Peretyatko, Dmitry Korchak, Anna Samuil, Lena Belkina, Alfredo Daza and Marina Prudenskaya. As a soloist and accompanist, he has been awarded several prizes in international competitions. In 2016, he was awarded the prize for best accompanying pianist at the "Triomphe de l'Art" competition in Brussels. He has performed in some of the world's leading halls, such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Valencia's Palau de les Arts, Moscow's House of Music, the Berlin State Opera, Berlin's Konzerthaus and Amsterdam's Muziekgebouw. He has taken part in numerous live broadcasts and CD recordings. Since 2006, he has been teaching lieder and solo recital at the Hanns Eisler Superior School of Music in his hometown Berlin.
