Esther Hoppe

The Swiss violinist Esther Hoppe has built an international reputation as soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue. After studying in Basel, Philadelphia (at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music), London and Zurich, Esther won 1st Prize at the eighth edition of the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg. Shortly afterwards, she founded the Tecchler Trio, which won several prizes at important competitions, such as 1st Prize at the ARD Munich Competition in 2007. She frequently plays as a soloist with some of the most prestigious European orchestras, such as the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Münchener Kammerorchester, Orchestre Les Siècles Paris, Kammerorchester Basel, Zurcher Kammerorchester, among others. Her intense concert activity also extends to chamber music, where her chamber music partners include musicians such as Clemens and Veronika Hagen, Nicolas Altstaedt, Vilde Frang, Heinz Holliger, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Alexander Lonquich, Christian Poltéra and Ronald Brautigam. She’s a regular invite at the most prestigious festivals, such as Lockenhaus, Ernen, Luzern, Gstaad, Delft, Prussia Cove and Styriarte. She has recorded several critically acclaimed CDs for the Virgin Classics, Neos, Concertus Records and Ars Musici labels. Since 2013, she has been professor for violin at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria. Esther Hoppe plays the Stradivarius violin "De Ahna" from 1722.
