Alfonso Pinto-Ribeiro was born in Porto in 2005.
He had his first piano lessons at the age of 4 with his mother, pianist Rosa Maria Barrantes, and began studying violin at the age of 7.
He studied at the Santa Cecilia Music Academy in Lisbon with Denis Stetsenko and Lígia Soares, and continued his violin studies at the National Conservatory of Lisbon with Joana Cipriano.
He has been awarded in several violin competitions, receiving First Prize at the "Vechi Costa" Competition in 2021.
He has participated in various violin masterclasses with internationally renowned professors such as Mihaela Martin, Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, and Jack Liebeck, among others. He also studied with Mateja Marinkovic in Belgrade and Stephan Picard in Berlin.
In the field of chamber music, he worked under the guidance of Miguel da Silva and Lars Anders Tomter.
In 2024, he began his studies the Mozarteum University of Salzburg in Austria, one of the most prestigious music institutions in the world, in the class of Professor Lily Francis.
He has performed in various concerts, with notable appearances at the Verão Clássico Festival in Lisbon and the Festival de Musique de Prémery in France.
Alfonso plays a violin made by Christian Bayon in 2020.
