Guilherme Moraes

Guilherme Moraes was born in São Paulo, Brazil. He studied under Vana Bock and Joel Souza before completing his Bachelor’s Degree at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under Giovanni Gnocchi and Wilfried Tachezi. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Chamber Music under Cibrán Sierra Vázquez alongside the Beija-flor String Quartet.

A multifaceted cellist, Guilherme has performed chamber music with renowned artists such as Cristian Poltéra, Julian Steckel, Lars Anders Tomter, Avri Levitan, Jennifer Stumm, Tai Murray, Lisa Ferschtmann, and Marianna Shirinyan. He has led several ensembles and orchestras, and participated in masterclasses tutored by Clemens Hagen, David Waterman, Cuarteto Quiroga, Meta4 and Quarteto Casals.

Guilherme has been featured in internationally renowned festivals including Trame Sonore in Mantova, the Lucerne Festival, Accademia Musicale Chigiana, and Schloss Brunegg.

Guilherme is a founding member of the Beija-flor String Quartet. In 2022, the ensemble won first prize in the Gianni Bergamo Award in Lugano, Switzerland. The quartet is also part of the Musethica program, having masterclasses and performing in social concerts throughout Europe, and had its debut at the Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival in Summer 2025.
