Jiliang Shi is an accomplished violist recognized for his artistry and dedication to chamber music. Originally from China, he pursued his Bachelor of Music at the Universit\u00e4t Mozarteum Salzburg under William Coleman and is currently continuing his master\u2019s education with Muriel Razavi. He is also pursuing a Chamber Music Master\u2019s degree under the mentorship of Rainer Schmidt and Cibr\u00e1n Sierra V\u00e1zquez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jiliang is an active chamber musician and a member of Quartet Kairi.\nHis passion for performance has led him to collaborate with renowned orchestras, including the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, where he was selected as a viola academist in 2023 under Maestro Kent Nagano. He has also performed with the M\u00fcnchener\nKammerorchester and Kalaphiramonie Landshut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in major concert halls across Europe and Asia, including the Chinese National Concert Hall, Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall, Kulangsu Island Concert Hall, Salzburg Festspielhaus, Bremen\u2019s Die Glocke, Szene Salzburg, and Solit\u00e4r Salzburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jiliang is frequently invited to perform at leading international festivals, such as ZwischenT\u00f6ne Festival (Switzerland), Chigiana Music Festival, Villars Music Institute (curated by Berliner Philharmoniker members), Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Moritzburg Festival, Mendelssohn Summer Festival, Schiermonnikoog Festival (Netherlands), and Salzburg Festival, among many others. He was also part of Yo-Yo Ma\u2019s YMCG Orchestra in Guangzhou, an ensemble curated by the legendary cellist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout his career, Jiliang has worked closely with many distinguished musicians, including Tabea Zimmermann, Nobuko Imai, Benjamin Schmid, Yo-Yo Ma, William Coleman, and Thomas Riebl, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jiliang\u2019s talent has been recognized through prestigious awards, including 1st prize at the Premio Annarosa Taddei Chamber Music Competition (2024) and 2nd prize at the Viola Hindemith Competition Salzburg (2024).
